In December 2013, Apple released the iBeacon, a low-powered device that can interact with nearby smart phones or other Bluetooth enabled devices. A year later and we’re still on the cusp of discovering just how useful iBeacons are. From the retail stores Lord & Taylor to Turkish Airlines, companies around the world are finding applications for these inexpensive devices.

Tap and Play Media is a company that is set to disrupt the digital advertising market with its radical business model. Using a Wi-Fi network paired with iBeacons (which they call inWifi), Tap and Play sends coupons to customers to draw them into a store or particular store department. The inWifi system provides free Wi-Fi for your customers and only bills you for a successful customer conversion. With the recent controversies over the efficacy of digital advertising and more aggressive advertising contracts, it’s refreshing to see a company that will put their money on the line and guarantee an effective product.
